Students are highly encourage to take private lessons. Private lessons are designed to help out students to be a better musician.
Students who take private lessons end being the top students in the band program. They also try out for outside groups including the SCSBOA All-Southern Middle School Honor Band, Jazz All-Stars, and the All-State Honor Bands. |
Remember: We live in the Los Angeles are so we have access to some of the musicians in the industry who love to give back and teach up and coming young musicians. Most offer private lessons, so if you see a great musician who plays your instrument, go and ask if they teach lessons!

How Lessons Work:
Lessons are once a week. A private teacher will assign enough work for your student to practice for a week. Students are expected to practice minutes to an hour per day (especially if you're paying!). Prices can range from $20/hour for a high school or college student to $50/hour for professional musician (professionals may charge more depending on who you go with).
Please remember that like with anything else, you get what you pay for.
